How many ways can you cook an egg? The list is endless! The same applies to the possibilities open to you when planning your dream wedding. There are always ways of creating your dream wedding and a glamorous Hollywood style can still be achieved without using a celebrity budget. The use of flowers, props and sumptuous fabrics can transform a room. Don’t be afraid to dream!
2. Preparation
The success to a perfect wedding is all in the preparation; after all, you wouldn’t roast your potatoes without peeling them first! Have a brainstorming session with your partner, and have fun whilst doing it! What interests do you both share, what colours sum up the two of you, have you got a favourite movie or a time era you both adore? Once you have decided on a theme, get handy with a glue stick and scissors and trawl through those bridal magazines. Surf the internet and create an inspiration board bringing all your ideas and dreams to life. Discuss the type of suppliers that suit you best. Do you prefer reportage or traditional style photography? Do you favour handmade or commercially supplied stationery, and do you require a marquee, modern, or traditional venue?
3. Planning
Leave no stone unturned! Consider all eventualities, for example contingency plans in case of rain or a heat wave! Brollies or soft drinks on arrival may seem unnecessary now, but could be crucial to ensuring your day is hitch free. Make excel or even a stack of trusty ‘post it notes’ your new best friend for making lists! Start by discussing your budget and begin to research suppliers. Bear in mind, some venues can be booked up to 2 years in advance. If time is an issue (after all an average wedding can take over 250 hours to plan!) you may want to consider hiring the help of a wedding planner, to help organise the entire event or even be on hand for a few power hours when the going gets tough!
4. Perseverance
Above all, never give up or lose sight of your goals! Keep focussed on your initial ideas and keep referring to your inspiration board. Be confident in what you and your partner want, and don’t let friends or family sew any seeds of doubt. We know of a bride who ended up with two wedding dresses after being swayed by her mother in the bridal shop rather than sticking to her own personal taste!
Remember, if something does happen to go wrong, don’t forget the day is all about the two of you and your future together. Any small hiccups will simply add to the fond memories of your day.
Today we were lucky enough to have 'The four P's to wedding succcess' published on www.confetti.co.uk, where we acted as a guest blogger for them!
